Stage 1. Taurus.
We knit from Nako Paris yarn, hook number 3.
1 row: we draw a chain of 19 CH + 1 CH, from the second loop from the hook we knit along the chain 18 SC, into the last loop 3 SC, 18 SC on the other side of the chain from CH, 2 SC into the last loop, SL-ST (42)
2 row: CH, SC in the same loop, 18 SC, 3 İNC, 18 SC, 2 İNC, SL-ST (48)
3 row: CH, SC in the same loop, SC, 18 SC, (İNC, SC) * 3, 18 SC, (İNC, SC) * 2, SL-ST (54)
Next, SL-ST at the end of the row do not do, we knit in a spiral.
4 – 23 (20 rows): 54 SC (54)
24 row: (7 SC, DEC) * 6 (48)
25 row: 48 SC (48)
26 row: (6 SC, DEC) * 6 (42)
27 row: 42 SC (42)
28 row: 3 SC, İNC, (6 SC, İNC) * 5, 3 SC (48)
29 row: (7 SC, İNC) * 6 (54)
30 row: 4 SC, İNC, (8 SC, İNC) * 5, 4 SC (60)
31 row: (9 SC, İNC) * 6 (66)
32 row: 5 SC, İNC, (10 SC, İNC) * 5, 5 SC (72)
33 row: (11 SC, İNC) * 6 (78)
34 – 53 (20 rows): 78 SC (78)
We do not cut the thread yet.
We turn the canvas inside out, because it is more fluffy there (at will) and put aside for a while.
Step 2. Legs.
We take a wire with a diameter of 2 mm and a length of about 60 cm and make a leg blank according to the scheme (see photo 1). Then we smear the finger with glue and wrap it tightly with brown (or black) strings. Thus, we wind all 4 fingers and the leg itself to a height of about 6 – 7 cm, and fix the ends of the thread with glue. We do the second leg in the same way.
We insert the finished legs into the previously knitted little body in the first row of knitting from the bottom, stepping back from the edges of 2 cm. We adjust the legs to the desired height, it can be from 3 to 6 cm, and fix the tape inside the body with tape, wrapping it with a thick layer on the leg (see photo ) We twist the wire from the legs together, isolate. After that, we stuff the body with the filler. We connect the upper edges of the body SL-ST (see photo), fasten the thread, cut it off.
Stage 3. Wings and tail.
WINGS (2 pcs.)
We knit from the same threads as the body, in rotary rows.
1 row: dial 2 CH, in the second loop we knit 2 SC, CH, turn (2)
2 row: 2 İNC, CH, turn (4)
3 row: İNC, 2 SC, İNC, CH, turn (6)
4 row: İNC, 4 SC, İNC, CH, turn (8)
5 row: İNC, 6 SC, İNC, CH, turn (10)
6 row: İNC, 8 SC, İNC, CH, turn (12)
7 – 11 (5 rows): 12 SC, CH, turn (12)
12 row: DEC, 8 SC, DEC, CH, turn (10)
13 row: DEC, 6 SC, DEC, CH, turn (8)
14 row: DEC, 4 SC, DEC (6)
We fix the thread, leave the end for sewing the wing, cut it off.
We knit the second wing in the same way.
Sew the wings on the sides of the body, retreating about 3 rows of SC from the neck.
TAIL.
We knit from the same threads as the body, in rotary rows.
1 row: we draw a chain of 11 CH, from the second from the loop hook we knit along the chain 10 SC, CH, turn (10)
2 – 4 (3 rows): 10 SC, CH, turn (10)
5 row: DEC, 6 SC, DEC, CH, turn (8)
6 – 10 (5 rows): 8 SC, CH, turn (8)
In the 10th row, do not cut the thread, continue to tie the tail:
first we knit SC along the side of the tail, then 2 SC to the bottom corner, 5 DC to the next loop along the bottom of the tail, SC skip, SC, SC skip, 5 DC to the next loop, SC skip, SC, 5 DC to the next loop, 2 SC in the lower corner of the tail, then again we knit SC along the side of the tail to the upper corner.
We fix the thread, leave the end for sewing the tail, cut off.
Sew the tail in the center back.
Step 4. Design.
EYES.
We cut out 2 white blanks for eyes with a size of white (3 * 4) * 3 cm from white felt. We make small cuts in the center of the blanks with scissors. Insert blue (or any other) pupil eyes with a diameter of 25 mm into the incisions. Glue the pupils to the felt detail of the eyes with super-glue. Glue false eyelashes over the felt part of the eyes.
Ready eyes try on an owl on his head, placing them in the 17th row from the top row of knitting. The distance between the eyes can be made as you like. We glue the eyes with transparent super-glue to the head. We make tinting around the eyes with brown dry pastel (optional).
BEAK.
Option 1. Made of polymer clay.
We sculpt the beak from polymer clay of yellow, orange or brown color. I got a beak in the form of an equilateral triangle with sides of about 1 cm. You can make a beak of any size as desired. The reverse side of a thick needle makes two holes on top of the beak that mimic the nostrils. We bake the finished beak according to the instructions, let it cool and glue it between the eyes with super-glue.
Option 2. Knitted beak.
We knit yellow, orange or brown threads (optional). I took yarn with a density of 150m / 50g, hook number 2.
1 row: we dial 2 CH, in the second from the hook we knit a loop 2 SC, CH, turn (2)
2 row: 2 İNC, CH, turn (4)
3 row: İNC, 2 SC, İNC (6)
We do not cut the thread, we tie the beak along the SL-ST contour, then we fix and thread the thread.
We sew the knitted beak with black threads in small stitches in places where the nostrils are located.
After the owl is completely ready, comb it with Velcro or scallop with rare cloves.
Stage 5. Clothing.
CAP.
First, we knit the bottom elastic for the cap with white threads.
1 row: we collect 4 CH + 1 CH, from the second from the hook of the loop we knit 4 SC, CH, turn (4)
2 – 54 (53 rows): per
We do not cut the thread, we connect the edges of the elastic: 4 SL-ST for both half loops.
We continue knitting, we tie a rubber band on top of SC.
1 row: 54 SC (54) and then we knit in a spiral.
2 – 3 row: 54 SC (54)
Change the thread color to turquoise (optional).
Note! If you want to knit a striped cap, like me, then change the thread color every 4 rows of white and 3 rows of turquoise.
4 row: (7 SC, DEC) * 6 (48)
5 – 7 (3 rows): 48 SC (48)
8 row: (6 SC, DEC) * 6 (42)
9 – 11 (3 rows): 42 SC (42)
12 row: (5 SC, DEC) * 6 (36)
13 – 15 (3 rows): 36 SC (36)
16 row: (4 SC, DEC) * 6 (30)
17 – 20 (4 rows): 30 SC (30)
21 row: (3 SC, DEC) * 6 (24)
22 – 25 (4 rows): 24 SC (24)
26 row: (2 SC, DEC) * 6 (18)
27 – 30 (4 rows): 18 SC (18)
31 row: (SC, DEC) * 6 (12)
32 – 35 (4 rows): 12 SC (12)
36 row: 6 DEC (6)
We tighten the remaining hole, fasten the thread, cut it off.
Sew on top of the cap pompom, decorate the cap with buttons or other decorative elements (optional).
SCARF.
Knit with white threads.
1 row: we dial 150 CH + 2 CH, with the third from the hook of the loop we knit 150 DC, CH, turn (150)
Change the thread to turquoise (optional).
2 row: 2 CH, 149 DC, CH, turn (150)
Change the thread to white.
3 row: 2 CH, 149 DC (149)
We fix the thread, cut it off.
The ends of the scarf are decorated with pompons or fringe (optional).
We put the cap and scarf on the owlet.
CONGRATULATIONS! YOUR OWL READY!
